Antonio Hsu, the sous chef of the Grand Hyatt Taipei, finds cooking an art and loves the challenges that come with the job. Leaning more towards fusion and Western cooking, he puts a lot of emphasis on the taste factor of the dishes that he creates.

Some of Chef Hsu's most favourite ingredients are vegetables, seafood, mutton, pork, noodle, beef and rice. These ingredients are used together with some of Unilever-Foodsolutions products such as chicken powder, tomato sauce, meat sauce, white sauce, mayonnaise and many more.

Currently the food trend in China highlights convenience, nutrition, sanitation and taste variety. This has influenced Chef Hsu to continuously make an effort to create new flavours for the palates of discerning diners.

Some of Chef Hsu's unforgettable experiences as a chef include the many competitions and food festivals that he has taken part in and attended all over the world. Travelling around the globe for such events also allows him to meet other people in the industry and share ideas and information.

Chef Hsu feels that to become a good chef, one needs about four to five years of constant hard work in the kitchen. His philosophy in life is "to absorb as much information as possible, just like a sponge". He also values health above everything else.
